Captain Douglas Forte

Captain Douglas Forte has proudly served the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office for more than two decades, bringing a wealth of experience across multiple divisions and leadership roles.

Captain Forte began his career with the SCSO in December 1998 after graduating from SUNY Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology, earning Dean’s List honors. He attended the Police Academy as a member of Class 99-131, where he served as 1st Platoon Leader and was recognized with both the Overall Achievement Award and the Leadership Award for his excellence in training.

Throughout his tenure, Captain Forte has worked in every uniformed deputy command, gaining extensive operational experience. As a Sergeant, he served in the Domestic Violence Bureau, Headquarters, and Civil Bureau before rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He later became an Investigative Lieutenant in the Grants Bureau and Executive Officer of the Civil Bureau, overseeing critical operations and administrative functions.

Captain Forte is certified in Project Lifesaver, Field Training, Bicycle Patrol, and All-Terrain Vehicle Operations, underscoring his commitment to specialized training and public safety. His career reflects strong leadership, strategic oversight, and dedication to the mission of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.
